Director and Choreographer of CIA. Nós da Dança since its establishment in 1981, she created 18 complete choreographic works, presented in Brazil and abroad.
At eighteen, Regina Sauer gets her professional dancer license and begins a career of recognized success. She specializes in Modern Dance and Jazz, having studied in schools such as the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center, Martha Graham School and Steps on Broadway in New York.
Throughout her career as a dancer and choreographer, Ms Sauer has also been consolidating her work on training professional dancers and founded in 1989, the dance school Centro de Artes Nós da Dança, which is also the company’s headquarters.
She is the director and producer of the Brazilian Congress of Modern Dance, which had its first edition in 2011.
Among her works for television, it can be highlighted the choreographed overture of the Fantástico show on the 90’s , Criança Esperança show and the 2002 season of the Sandy and Junior show. She also worked on several choreographed scenes on popular soap operas from Globo Network Television.
Since 1999, Ms Sauer has actively been participating in Rio de Janeiro's famous Carnaval, choreographing not only the group that introduces the Samba Schools but also other groups of the parade. Among the Samba Schools that she has worked for are: Salgueiro, Grande Rio, Porto da Pedra, Imperatriz Leopoldinense and Mangueira.
She has taught modern dance on the Bachelor Degree in Dance course at the Universidade Castelo Branco, for three years, and Post-graduate Courses in Dance on the UEPA – Universidade do Estado do Pará (2006) and on the Universidade Castelo Branco, Rio de Janeiro (2005).
Ms Sauer receives invitations to participate in various dance festivals in Brazil, as a speaker, teacher and judge. Since 2003, she has been the producer and curator of the Festival de Dança de Rio das Ostras, achieving great public success and critics’ recognition, and ranks among the biggest in Brazil.
